Hypertherm's mechanized plasma systems are used to manufacture mining equipment, such as conveyors and hoppers. Virtually dross-free cutting means parts can be welded together with minimal prep work. Handheld systems are most commonly used to maintain and repair the heavy equipment used at the mines.

Some of the uses for plasma on-site are:

• Cutting off corroded bolts to repair bulldozer tracks.
• Pipe fabrication and repair.
• Gouging out welds prior to repairing trucks and loaders.
